In 1989, Bob briefly studied Full Contact Karate/Kickboxing under Don Harriman, Rokudan, of Pittsfield.  He was unable to continue, but returned in 1993, and stayed until Don's retirement.  He continues to consult with Mr. Harriman, as well as teaching class Monday nights.
 
Bob started in 1990 studying Shotokan Karate under Kevin Malady, Nidan, and Darrel Bowen, Shodan.  They taught in Benton and Fairfield.  He studied with them until 1995.
 
In 1995, Bob began studying Hensan Ryu Karate (Club Naha) in Waterville under Ken Walsh, and continues to teach and study this style.
 
In 1998, Aikido was introduced at the dojo at Club Naha under Wes Andrenyak, Shodan, and Bob began studying that, and continues to do so, as well as teaching as needed.
 
In 2000, Bob began studying Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do under Dana Vaillancourt, then a 6th degree black belt (now a 7th degree) and continued until Mr. Vaillancourt moved in late 2001.
 
He holds ranks in the following styles:
 
Full Contact Karate Kickboxing- 4th degree black belt
Hensan Ryu Karate Do- 3rd degree black belt
Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan- 2nd degree black belt
WTF (Kukkiwon) Tae Kwon Do- 2nd degree black belt
Aikido- 1st degree black belt
Shotokan Karate Do- 4th kyu
